vegas sunmer slump gettin worse every year

just read that vegas strip revenue down again this summer despite tourism being up. seems like every year the summer slump gets worse
people visiting but not gambling as much, spending more on shows and restaurants instead. some operators talking about "challenging summer conditions"
is vegas losing its gambling focus or just natural evolution? been planning trip there but wondering if the experience is still worth it

definitely summer has been rough. table limits higher to compensate for fewer players, comps way down, atmosphere just different
lots of tourists taking selfies and shopping but actual serious gambling way down. feels more like disneyland than casino sometimes
heat is brutal too which doesn't help. used to be tourists would stay inside gambling all day to escape temperature, now they just go to shows or pools
 
went to vegas in june and was shocked how expensive everything got. $300+ room rates, $20 cocktails, $50 buffets
when you're already spending fortune on accommodation and food, less money left for gambling. simple economics

The pricing strategy is backwards. Vegas used to make money by getting people to gamble, now they're trying to make money before people even start gambling. Once you've paid $300 for room and $100 for dinner, that's your budget gone + everyone knows the odds suck compared to online so why bother?
 
the generational thing is huge too. millennials and gen z see vegas differently than older generations
we go for instagram opportunities and experiences, not necessarily to gamble. gambling is just one small part of the trip
my parents generation went to vegas specifically to gamble. different mindset completely
