played sweet bonanza pop last night and im more confused than before

desktop build is still the thing i can't get past and nobody has fixed it between the two releases. i opened sweet bonanza pop on my laptop this morning and it's the same as gates pop was. a phone game sitting in a small box in the middle with dead space either side. nobody designed that, they just let it happen. on the phone it's good, properly good. big clear symbols, reads instantly, you understand it in one spin. 3x5 isn't a design choice for a screen, it's a design choice for a thumb. and they've shipped the thumb version to the desktop and shrugged

had a go on it this morning on my break, maybe three quid. won something nearly every spin and still ended up with less than i started, which i think is the actual design rather than my luck

Nataly has described a 1 in 3.32 hit frequency better than any of the spec sheets manage. Constant small returns that don't add up to your stake is not bad luck, it's what that number means.
And on the 25,000x everyone keeps repeating - Gates POP puts it at 1 in 54,347,826. Sweet Bonanza POP at 1 in 52,631,579. For any practical purpose those are the same number and neither of them is an outcome anybody here will have. It's a label on the box, and arguing about whether two games share a label is a thinner argument than it looks.

Here is the comparison that reframes most of the complaining, and I say it as someone who thinks these games are thin.

Sweet Bonanza Super Scatter, July last year. 6x5, top RTP 96.51%, max win 50,000x, Super Scatter prizes at 100x, 500x, 5,000x and 50,000x, and buys at 100x and 500x.
Sweet Bonanza POP, yesterday. 3x5, top RTP 97.05%, max win 25,000x, no buy.

Half a percent more return on the POP version, and the thing you give up for it is a 50,000x ceiling that sits at roughly 1 in 833 million. You are trading a prize nobody wins for half a percent you receive on every spin.

Careful there, because you've put two different prize tiers next to each other and the comparison won't carry it. 833 million is the Super Scatter's 50,000x. 52.6 million is the POP's 25,000x. Those aren't the same prize, so the ratio between them doesn't mean what it looks like it means. The Super Scatter's own 5,000x tier is the nearer comparison and I can't find a published frequency for it.
Your conclusion might still be right. The working isn't.

That objection is fair but it doesn't cut evenly, and the ladders are worth laying side by side because they aren't the parallel pair people keep assuming.
Super Scatter ships three configs: 96.51, 95.56, 94.48
Sweet Bonanza POP ships four: 97.05, 96.58, 95.59, 94.56

So POP has an extra rung, and its floor sits above the Super Scatter's floor. Whatever tier an operator picks, the POP version isn't simply the same game shifted down a notch - the shape of the ladder is different. I still haven't deposited on any of these so I've no feel to check it against, only what's published.

right, this is the bit i have to say out loud because i spent all of last week on the other side of it. so i called it a reskin and a conveyor. then i played it, and then the two gates releases turned up four weeks apart built for opposite people, and now @meltingcore has the ladders not even matching. numbers have gone against me on basically every point i made

and the honest reason i was annoyed is that it looks like a phone advert and i didn't like that. that''s a taste argument. i was dressing it up as a value argument because taste arguments sound weak. still think shipping this many this fast is a problem. that's a separate complaint and i'm keeping it

still not havin it tbh i've played gates pop for seven weeks and sweet bonanza pop since yesterday and they're boring games with good numbers attached. a better rtp on something you don't want to open isn't value, its a nicernumber on a thing you're not doing

Yeah that's the honest version of your earlier point, which is why I pushed back on the first one and not this one. You're answering "which would I rather play". @CatMatt is answering "which is the better deal". They come apart constantly and the whole business depends on us mostly answering the first one. I'd take the Super Scatter in front of me tomorrow and I'd be getting worse value for it, knowingly. That's not a defence of anything, it's just what's true.

okok i tried that sweet bonanza pop on stream last night for the launch and pulled it after 25 min 🎀 theres nothing to react to bb. no buy, no build, no moment. three rows of sweets going pop and meanwhile the LIVE side has booked kevin hart for the 6th and 7th of november. a whole comedian. so the slots arm is making phone games with no buy button and the live arm is hiring hollywood. read that however you want

kevin hart doing a roulette wheel is the funniest thing in this whole thread and none of u were going to mention it

Something came up while I was chasing the engine question that's worth putting here, because it undercuts the release list this thread ran on last week. The official Q4 roadmap names three POP titles. Sweet Bonanza POP on the 20th, Zeus vs Hades POP on 17 November, Starlight Princess POP on 1 December. Three.
The seven-title list people were quoting, with Triple Hop Pots and Pelican Payday and a Mahjong Wins POP in December, comes from third-party coverage. Those first two are real games - they're out, they're 5,000x, Triple Hop Pots is a 3x3 - but I can't confirm from anything official that they sit inside POP rather than next to it.
So "seven by Christmas" might be right and might be a list somebody assembled. I don't know which and I'd stop repeating the number until somebody does.
