just read that esports betting hit $2.8 billion this year up from $2.5 billion last year. thats insane growth for just one year
been betting on csgo and valorant for about 2 years now and the amount of markets available has exploded. used to be just match winner now theres prop bets for everything - first blood, round winners, player kills etc
also noticed way more people in my discord talking about betting on league worlds and cs majors. feels like its really going mainstream now not just us hardcore gamers
anyone else seeing this? the odds seem way better than traditional sports too cos bookies still figuring out the meta

problem is lots of new bettors dont understand the game properly and just bet on popular teams. seen loads of terrible bets on sentinels just cos they got famous streamers

been following pro valorant since day 1 and can spot value bets easily cos i understand team comps and map picks. traditional sports bettors coming in blind and making terrible bets

rpoblem is the addiction potential seems way higher. games are faster paced and matches can be 3-4 hours long and you can bet on every single round.

the growth makes sense when you think about it.. traditional sports have been around forever so bookies know exactly how to price everything but esports is still wild west
been making decent money on league worlds by understanding draft phase better than the odds makers. when i see a team pick scaling comp against early game comp the odds are often completely wrong
also helps that most esports matches are bo3 or bo5 so even if your team loses first map theres still plenty of comeback potential

those growth numbers are insane when you think about it. went from niche hobby to bigger than some traditional sports in less than a decade
 
well i think we're still in early stages too but once vr and mobile esports betting really take off this could dwarf traditional sports betting entirely
