day 3 of the refund window and my acount still show nothing

projection attached to that is the part worth sitting with. around 21 million of brazils 25.2 million legal bettors expected to carry on with unlicensed operators. for a reference point, india was still at 63% three months after their ban. so the policy succeeds at closing the licensed market and does almost nothing to the activity. that's not a prediction that's what the first two weeks already show

That's the bit that actually worries me about this, and I say that as someone who plays on crypto sites every week.
There's a difference between choosing an offshore crypto casino after you've learned how they work, and being pushed onto one overnight because your licensed site vanished. The second group doesn't know to check who operates the brand, doesn't know a withdrawal can be refused, and has never had to care before because the regulator was doing that work for them.

21 million people arriving in that market in a month is not 21 million informed customers. It's a feeding ground.

brazil always was the market everyone wanted. every conference every year, brazil brazil brazil, the big one is comming
now is gone in two weeks. all those companys paid the licence fee and they don't get it back, i read that also. no refund no compensation nothing
so the government take the fee and then close the thing you paid the fee for. in my country we call this something but i don't know the english word

A provisional measure has force immediately but has to go through Congress to survive. The amendment deadline was extended to just before midnight on the 13th, so... Separately, two industry bodies have gone to the Supreme Federal Court asking for the whole thing to be struck down. No timetable on that that I've seen.

I'd be cautious about reading the Stake injunction as a signal on either. That judge granted a sliver of what was asked for and explicitly didn't rule on whether the ban itself is lawful.

congress wont touch it. lula called it a cancer on national television. no politician wants to be the one voting to bring back the cancer six months before an election

@Daevon G here's one practical thing while you're waiting - refund is meant to go back to the account the money originally came from. If you deposited from an account you've since closed, or changed banks, or used someone else's card at any point, that's where these get stuck. Funds that can't be returned are supposed to go to a Caixa account rather than back to the operator.

So it's worth checking whether the account you funded that balance from is still the one your bank has active. That's a question you can actually answer today instead of refreshing an app.

is the same account. same bank since 2019, i only ever used pix from it
thank you though. i will check anyway

operators holding the float have a 200k daily fine for being late. that is the only reason anyone gets paid 👍

saw somewhere the banks were preparing something like 1.3 billion total. no idea if thats a real number or a journalist multiplying something
anyone seen that confirmed anywhere proper?

So what then, exactly? Caixa "may facilitate." May. Nobody in this thread can tell him what happens today, because the measure doesn't say. They wrote twenty eight articles about shutting it down and one sentence about the people owed money.
