Hey everyone, just read this crazy news from Thailand. A 36-year-old woman nicknamed "Am Cyanide" got death sentence for poisoning 15 people with cyanide - including her close friends! She did it to cover her online gambling debts. This is literally insane 😱 Over 80 charges against her... Anyone following this case? Thoughts on how gambling addiction can drive people to such extremes?

but still... murder? thats next level crazy. like there's always bankruptcy or something
Not in Thailand. Debt laws there are super strict, and loan sharks... well, you don't want to mess with them. I lived there for 5 years, and gambling debt is treated way differently than in the West. Loan sharks are often connected to local influential people. They'll harass your family, show up at your workplace, even threaten physical harm. And cops won't help much since the debt came from illegal gambling. The whole system is designed to trap people - underground casinos work with loan sharks, who work with debt collectors. Once you're in, it's nearly impossible to get out without paying.

those thai sites are predatory af. they know exactly how to hook people. start with small wins, then... These sites have it down to a science. First they let you win small amounts, build trust. Then they introduce "VIP hosts" who become your "friends", available 24/7 on Line app. They notice when you're online late at night, emotional, perfect time to offer "special bonuses". They even track if you post about financial troubles on social media - that's when the loan offers start. I've seen entire Facebook groups dedicated to these predatory tactics. They target people who seem desperate or lonely. This "Am Cyanide" case? That's just the tip of the iceberg of what these operations do to people.
