proper gutted to write this but had to delete bet365 off my phone today. been betting on football for about 2 years now and i genuinely cannot enjoy watching a match anymore without having something on it. turned £20 into £340 twice on accas and thought i was some sort of genius. mostly premier league and champions league. im about £2800 down now. i know thats not massive compared to some people but i keep adding £10-£20 here and there thinking ill get it back. my mate from work is down over £25k and hes proper struggling with this shit. dont want to end up like that honestly
the worst part is i used to love football. now i cant watch arsenal without checking odds or thinking about what bets to place. its ruined the sport for me completely. app is deleted. hopefully i can actually enjoy watching the game again. good luck to anyone still playing i hope your accas come in but im done before it gets worse.

emn are all the same feels like my bf becomes an addict too. can't just watch a game anymore without having multiple bets running. started with just accumulators now he's doing player props and first goalscorer and all sorts. the apps are designed to keep you hooked honestly.
good on you for recognizing it before getting in deeper. £2800 is still a lot of money even if it seems small compared to others. anyway wise move

fair play for admitting it mate. most lads i know are same way. cant watch match without checking their phone every 5 minutes to see if their acca is still alive. this shit ruins fun i say. bet365 will limit you soon as you start winning anyway so youre not missing much. they dont want proper winners just mugs putting tenners on 10 fold accas

well done mate! don't listen to idiots and just have fun watching favourite games ok

Nah limits probably won't work mate so deleting is the right call. Can always use Gamstop to self exclude properly if you're worried about redownloading it that might help @notyourdealer to keep away
cheers mate. how is gamstop work? is that the thing that bans you from all uk sites?

yeah the player props are what got me. used to just do simple accas now im betting on corners, cards, shots on target all sorts of random shit

see you saturday mate ;)
so true kek but gonna try my best

all lads have same problem. one fella put his entire weeks wages on a 5 fold last month. four came in and the last match ended 0-0 when he needed over 2.5 goals. proper meltdown he had. his missus nearly left him over it
the apps make it too easy now as you can lose full bag while sat on the toilet

Yepp Gamstop is the national self exclusion scheme where you can sign up for 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years. It blocks you from all UKGC licensed sites. It's free and pretty straightforward to set up. Only downside is if you change your mind you have to wait out the full period but sounds like you need that hard stop anyway

How do you even lose that much? Don't you just stop when you're down like £100 or something?
mate if it was that simple there wouldnt be a gambling problem would there. its the chasing that gets you. lose 100 so you put 50 to try win it back. then that loses so you put 100. before you know it youre down 500 in one go

Accumulator bets have some of the worst expected value in gambling and the bookies margin compounds with each leg you add. When 5 fold acca might look like good odds but the true odds are significantly worse than what you're getting paid.
With that said good on you for recognizing the problem. most people don't realize until they're in serious financial trouble and £2800 is recoverable. But your mate is in real danger please try to reason him.

@_havoC to add to what chapman said, the apps also give you "free bets" and "odds boosts" that make you think youre getting value. then you win once or twice and you think you've figured out some system. by the time you realize you're just losing money its too late and youre chasing losses
my bf won £500 on a free bet promotion and thought he was brilliant. lost it all plus another £800 within two weeks trying to recreate that it
