gonna have a small one on mbilli anyway. price should be decent and if canelos body is telling him things we cant see from camp footage then one clean shot landing is the only realistic path. thats enough for me to have a tenner on it
 
worth remembering Canelo was talking dismissively before the Crawford fight too. "zero chance" framing is almost always how upsets start. like a fighter with nothing to lose walking into a must-win situation for the other side is not nothing. don't think mbilli wins. but the certainty some people have seems slightly off..

in professional sport athletes who talk like that are usually trying to convince themselves as much as the opponent. coming into a must-win after a significant loss, knowing the entire narrative depends on september - that does things to focus and timing that no camp fully prepares you for
 
The motivated reasoning concern is valid but prefight quotes are performance as much as anything. Canelo has been saying versions of this for fifteen years. I wouldn't weight them heavily against a 63-fight record.
 
honest take that at this stage every canelo fight is primarily about maximising financial potential and protecting the legacy already built. winning matters but the fight selection reflects business calculation as much as sporting ambition. this is what a career looks like past its peak years regardless of the sport
 
also what odds are people actually getting on him rn. anyone seen better than evens on mbilli anywhere. asking for my tenner
