win 100k lose 100k and still owe the irs. committee voted to kill it but its still law

Which is roughly four times the eight-year revenue estimate, in one year, on 2023 volumes. Either the estimate was conservative or something in the modelling assumed behaviour change. I'd guess the second, and the behaviour change they assumed is people gambling less.

win 100k lose 100k and still owe the irs. committee voted to kill it but its still law

Because a committee vote is the first of four things that have to happen. It cleared Ways and Means 38-5 on 16 September, attached to a 98-page digital asset tax bill. It still needs the full House, then the Senate, then a signature. Congress is out until after the midterms. And it's riding on...

win 100k lose 100k and still owe the irs. committee voted to kill it but its still law

You're not reading it wrong. Here's the mechanism laid out, because a lot of people in here are going to need it. - It's in the One Big Beautiful Bill, signed July 2025, effective for tax years beginning after 31 December 2025 - You deduct the lesser of 90% of your losses, or your total winnings...

draftkings says all 50 states - then why i cant use it

That's the whole thing in one sentence and it's slightly infuriating to read.

draftkings says all 50 states - then why i cant use it

It bothers me a great deal. It's also better than the thing it replaced, which was nothing. You're in Nevada. Your position is that a company should be licensed by the state before it takes your money, and you're right, and I'd want that too. But Texas has had thirty years to give me a...

draftkings says all 50 states - then why i cant use it

Different companies, same product category. Kalshi is the exchange that's been fighting the states in court. DraftKings has its own version called Predictions. Robinhood and Crypto.com run them too. The court rulings about Kalshi set the rules everyone else has to live under, which is why a case...

draftkings says all 50 states - then why i cant use it

Yep. I noticed that too and I don't have an answer for it. Either there are two states where something else applies, or the 47 figure is out of date, or the ad is rounding. DraftKings didn't respond when the Review-Journal asked them about the ads at all, so nobody's explained the gap.

draftkings says all 50 states - then why i cant use it

They're counting DraftKings Predictions, which is a different product under a different regulator. Their own line is that Predictions operates in Nevada plus 47 other states. That includes Hawaii and Utah, which ban every form of gambling there is. So it isn't a sportsbook in 50 states. It's a...

licence link at the bottom of the site goes nowhere

Wellp if anyone trying to work out where their site actually sits, the map is roughly this now: - Curaçao post-LOK: hardest to get, real ownership disclosure, crypto held in entity wallets only with personal wallets banned outright. A seal that verifies means something it didn't mean in 2023. -...

tabcorp buying betmakers, and in 2021 betmakers bid 4bn for tabcorp

The numbers here are unusual enough to be worth laying out. BetMakers EBITDA: A$14m unaudited, twelve months to 30 June Targeted cost savings: A$30m by end of year two Enterprise value: A$267m So the synergy target is more than double the earnings being acquired. You're not buying a profit...

heads up if you have a balance sitting in luckyland slots

Are you nuts?? Don't be like that. You're guessing and she'll act on it. @laura_BETTS I said above they're separate platforms, not the same account. Nothing I've seen says balances transfer anywhere. Assume they don't, redeem what you have and if a transfer happens to exist you've lost nothing...

heads up if you have a balance sitting in luckyland slots

Well it's legal because the provider publishes the range and the operator discloses it in the game information panel. Whether that's meaningful disclosure is a separate argument, but nobody's breaking a rule. @Steven93 practical habit is to open the info or rules panel before your first spin on...

heads up if you have a balance sitting in luckyland slots

There's a real distinction people keep missing here, so worth setting out properly. LuckyLand Slots and LuckyLand Casino are two separate platforms. Same brand name, different products. LuckyLand Casino only launched last November and it isn't going anywhere. It's LuckyLand Slots, the original...

Louisiana killed the last sweeps sites this august so whats even left for US players now??

@wagerwinner it's some of both but morgan_c is right that the commercial angle is underrated. Louisiana has a significant land-based casino industry and riverboat gaming. Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, New Orleans. Those operators pay taxes and licence fees and employ people locally. A sweeps casino...

Louisiana killed the last sweeps sites this august so whats even left for US players now??

@wagerwinner Louisiana's a specific case. They have one of the harshest prison systems in the country, Angola penitentiary and all that, and they tend to reach for severe criminal penalties where other states would use civil fines. Texas would probably just fine you into oblivion. Louisiana...

Curacao just told every crypto casino to screen wallets and ban mixers. this changes a lot

Lets be honest for anyone playing crypto: - Deposits - screening already happens at most reputable sites. Minimal change for normal use. - Withdrawals - this is where you'll feel it. New destination addresses will likely see delays while analytics run. Withdrawing to the same address you...

Why did you switch from fiat casinos to crypto casinos?

You'll get used too pretty quick. if you struggle get started here is easy stepbystep instruction: 1. Create account on reputable exchange (Coinbase, Kraken, Binance) 2. Complete verification (ironically requires KYC) 3. Buy Bitcoin or other accepted crypto 4. Send to casino wallet address...

Why did you switch from fiat casinos to crypto casinos?

Look crypto casinos offer provably fair gaming which fiat casinos cannot provide. Blockchain verification allows players to verify game fairness. This transparency is impossible with traditional RNG systems. To be fair most players don't actually verify so benefit is theoretical anyway
