Software updates to the platform shouldn't affect individual game RNG which is controlled by the game provider, not the casino. However if you're seeing pattern changes after updates, it's worth checking if the casino switched RTP settings (if configurable) or if it's just confirmation bias combined with variance.

Legitimate providers use certified RNG systems that casinos can't manipulate on the fly.
 
The reality is online slots are designed to have high variance to keep things "exciting" which means long droughts are built into the math.
Land based slots have more consistent smaller wins because players walk away when they're not hitting anything. Online they can stretch out the pain because you just keep clicking.
 
appreciate everyones horror stories folks that makes me feel less crazy. think the main lesson is what vogafox and shadow said - just walk away after 200-300 dead spins instead of chasing. easier said than done when youre in the moment tho

That's the trap innit. Logic goes out the window when you're already deep in and convinced the next 50 spins will save the session.
Set hard stop-loss limits before you start playing. When you hit them, walk away regardless of how you "feel" about the slot.
 
reading all this definitely makes me more cautious about chasing features. think i'll follow my 150-200 spin rule and if nothing hits by then just switch games or log off. watching my bf lose hundreds chasing "its due to hit" was lesson enough 😓

alright fair enough i hear you on the maths side of things but still gonna trust my gut sometimes tho cause its worked out before but yeah probably shouldn't go 600+ spins deep chasing it
