hey india just announced major crackdown on offshore gambling adverts. their ad watchdog teaming up with gaming groups to track and block illegal promos. this is massive market - more then a billion people for sec. if they start properly enforcing gambling bans could kill loads of crypto casinos that rely on indian customers
anyone know if vpns are next target? seems logical step rtho

ur right if loads of crypto casinos basically advertising directly to indian customers despite it being illegal there then vpn question is interesting tho. id say its technically difficult to block completely but china manages it tbh
its hard to compare those @EpicW1N as china has way more resources and tech infrastructure for vpn blocking tho
india might struggle with such lvl of implementation. easier to believe theyll go after payment processors instead

This is actually a pretty significant shift in how India's handling offshore operators. They've moved from basically ignoring the problem to systematic enforcement. India's new approach involves ASCI working directly with gaming groups to create proper monitoring systems. They're hitting multiple enforcement channels - digital platform monitoring, influencer content scanning, payment gateway restrictions, ISP-level blocking, social media removal.
Main challenge for operators serving Indian customers has always been payment processing rather than access. As Yapro perfectly pointed out Indian banking regulations make it difficult to process gambling transactions, which is why crypto adoption has been high in this market. As for @EpicW1N's VPN detection concerns I doubt that India's capable of implementing something similar to China's Great Firewall as well, but even partial implementation could eliminate a substantial revenue source for offshore operators.

Fair point Bill, this enforcement mechanism sounds pretty comprehensive tbh. Thats why sites like Stake have customer support in hindi and accept rupee deposits. So if India seriously blocks access could be existential threat for some operators

so now iwonder if this will affect global crypto prices at all? if mills of indians cant deposit to gambling sites anymore thats lot less crypto demand

minor impact on bitcoin prob but could hurt some smaller gamblin-focus tokens. most crypto demand is investment/speculation not gamblin anyways

100% my friend - enforcement mechanism is what makes this particularly concerning for operators. Previous Indian gambling restrictions relied on individual state enforcement with limited coordination, while this new framework adds real-time digital advertising surveillance. While technical infrastructure for comprehensive VPN blocking exists it still requires significant investment. More likely we'll see selective enforcement targeting major operators rather than blanket blocking. However, the advertising crackdown alone could substantially reduce customer acquisition from India, making the market less attractive even if access remains technically possible.

customer acquisition point is key. most casual players find sites through ads not by searching for ways around blocks and thats why cutting off adverts basically cuts off new customer flow 💸

this is probably just the beginning. expect other big markets to follow same approach if it works in india - like brazil, indonesia, philippines all have similar issues with offshore operators

fr dude once one major player shows it works others will simply copypaste dat. gonna rekt grey market gamblin everywhere

honestly this might be good long term. forces operators to focus on properly regulated markets instead of exploiting legal loopholes
better for everyone if gambling is properly regulated rather than operating in grey areas

agreed but will be painful transition for operators who built business models around offsghore market access
lots of crypto casinos gonna need complete strategic pivots

yeah @shadow123 the ones that dont adapt quickly are gonna get crushed. this is probably biggest regulatory shift since EU started cracking down on unlicensed operators few years ago

end of an era really. offshore gambling had good run but governments finally catching up with tech. hopefully for the best even if it reduces our options short term might force develop industry right way overall

seems like wild west days are ending then. just hope the regulated alternatives offer decent value and dont overfuck everything
